Mt. Ashland is Southern Oregon’s hometown mountain—easy to reach, easy to enjoy, and a favorite winter spot for locals and visitors. The ski area plans to begin the 2025–26 season on December 13, 2025, weather permitting, and the community is already looking forward to opening day.

The mountain offers a good mix of terrain across its 240 acres, with more than 40 runs ranging from beginner-friendly slopes to challenging expert terrain. Newer skiers usually start on the Sonnet area, which has gentler runs and a conveyor lift ideal for building confidence. Intermediate skiers can explore long cruisers spread across the mid-mountain, while advanced and expert skiers head straight for The Bowl, Mt. Ashland’s steep cirque that’s known for its deeper snow and more technical lines.

Six lifts serve the mountain, including three triple chairs, two double chairs, and a beginner conveyor. The lift layout makes it easy to move around the ski area without feeling crowded, and each lift gives access to a different set of runs, so there’s always something new to try throughout the day.
Conditions on Mt. Ashland can vary, as the mountain sits high on an exposed ridge. Clear days bring wide views and smooth runs, while storm days often mean fresh snow and a more adventurous feel. Either way, the ski area keeps things simple, friendly, and focused on getting people out on the snow.
After a full day on the mountain, staying at Country Willows Inn is a comfortable and relaxing way to end the day. The inn is just a short drive back into Ashland and offers a quiet, cozy place to unwind before heading out for another round of skiing the next morning.

For visitors looking for an easygoing, approachable ski trip with a true local feel, Mt. Ashland and Country Willows Inn make a great winter pairing.
