The B&Bs for Vets program was designed to thank our nation’s veterans and active military for their service. This program has been in operation for 14 years and during that time Bed & Breakfasts, Inns and other unique lodging properties across the United States and Canada have offered thousands of complimentary room nights to active-duty military and veterans.
Country Willows Inn is the only lodging establishment in the state of Oregon participating in the official B&Bs for Vets program. Innkeeper Linda Kilcollins says, “It’s our way of thanking veterans for putting their lives on hold to serve our country and for the sacrifices they made being away from their families.”
In honor of Veterans Day on November 11th, Country Willows is offering veterans a “book one night and get the second night free” package for the entire month of November! Veterans just need to provide a current VA card or medical military ID at the time of booking. The package cannot be combined with other offers. If you’re a veteran and interested in booking the special veterans package, call us at 541-488-1590.
Veterans Day History
World War I – known at the time as “The Great War” – officially ended when the Treaty of Versailles was signed on June 28, 1919. However, fighting ceased seven months earlier when a temporary end of hostilities, between the Allied nations and Germany went into effect on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. For that reason, November 11, 1918, is generally regarded as the end of “the war to end all wars.”
Veterans Day continues to be observed on November 11, regardless of what day of the week on which it falls.
