Mt. Ashland Ski Area

The Mt. Ashland Ski Area is home to many snowshoe trails that are accessible from the Mt. Ashland Ski Area parking lot. However, one of our favorite trails here is the Grouse Gap Loop. This trail loop is full of beautiful scenery and is 6.7 miles long. It is an intermediate trail that takes approximately four hours to complete. The Buck Prairie Winter Recreation Area

Many of the snowshoe trails The Buck Prairie Winter Recreation Area are suitable for all levels. More than 17 miles of ungroomed trail loops are accessible. You will find everything here from a four-mile loop to an extraordinary 11.7-mile loop. As is the case with many of Ashland’s snowshoe trails, you can look forward to plenty of spectacular mountain views.

Crater Lake National Park

Although Crater Lake National Park is 90 minutes away from Ashland, it deserves an honorable mention. You’ll find this incredible park in the Cascade Mountains. The park is true to its namesake and is home to the deepest lake in the United States. Ranger-led snowshoe hikes are available from early December through late April.

  • If you don’t have a pair of snowshoes, you can find them available for rent at Ashland Outdoor.
  • Please keep in mind that all Oregon’s Sno-Parks require parking permits. You can buy yours by visiting one of the city’s permit agents, including Ashland Outdoor and Northwest Nature Shop.
