Most guests know us for our serene setting, cozy rooms, and hearty breakfasts; but there’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes to create the magic.
Morning Starts Before Sunrise
Before the sun peeks over the hills, our kitchen lights are on. Scones are in the oven, bacon is sizzling, and someone is harvesting and prepping our garden-fresh herbs for the day’s breakfast entree. Our breakfasts are a true labor of love, inspired by seasonal produce, culinary training, and a little country ingenuity. (Did you know some of our recipes were derived from the Culinary Institute of America?)
A Team That Feels Like Family
Whether it’s our onsite resident collecting morning eggs from the chicken coop, our pool maintenance testing the pH, the housekeeping staff folding linens with military precision, or our groundskeeper tending to the garden and adjusting sprinklers, every person here adds a personal touch to your stay. Many of us wear multiple hats. Hospitality in a small town means being part concierge, part baker, part grocery shopper and always a welcoming smile.

An Eye for Detail
Our dedicated housekeeping team is an integral part of our daily operations. They move quietly and efficiently through the property, ensuring each room is spotless, fresh, and perfectly prepared for our guests. Their hard work often goes unseen, but it’s the foundation of the warm, welcoming experience our guests enjoy every time they walk through the door.
The Little Fixes No One Sees
Maintaining a historic property is a lot like caring for an elderly relative, it requires patience, love, and a really good toolbox. From fixing the occasional squeaky floorboard to repairing a leaky faucet, our behind-the-scenes work is constant. But it’s all worth it to keep the inn’s charm intact.
Seasonal Surprises and Strategic Breaks
You may have noticed we operate Thursday through Sunday during the slower winter months. This allows our small-but-mighty team time to rest, regroup, and get ahead on special projects, planning new menus and garden beds, updating room decor, or prepping freezer-friendly pastries. We’re also more than happy to make exceptions for long-term stays when possible.
Trade Secrets and Community Connections
We believe in bartering, neighborly favors, and supporting local. We’ve traded rooms for everything from fireplace repairs to drone photography and custom art. It’s just how things work in a town like ours. Ashland isn’t just a location; it’s a way of life.
Grateful for You
Ultimately, the best part of running Country Willows Inn is the people we meet. Guests become friends, and friends often return year after year. When you stay at Country Willows Inn, you’re not only a guest but what makes it special.
