This week’s blog is all about the many critters that inhabit Country Willows beautiful five-acre farmland. So be prepared for lots of pictures in this week’s offering! The first “visitor” you may see is one of the many deer that wander on and through the property. They love munching on the flora and fauna much to the chagrin of our groundskeeper. A shared banana goes a long way in mending relations.
Ever hear of “splooting?” It’s a thing. On hot days, squirrels keep cool by stretching out on a cool surface to reduce their body heat. Splooting! So, if you see one of the CW squirrels looking like this…it’s perfectly normal!
Near the Country Willows pool is a small stream with two cascading waterfalls and ponds. Koi of different sizes inhabit the ponds. The larger koi were a gift from a CW guest and are about 10 years old.
Situated between the Cottage and barn is the duck pond! Duck, geese and other water creatures hang out here. Two of the ducks call Country Willows home. “Splashy” and “Ben” (Aflac) will noisily greet you and beg for food like they’re starving. They aren’t. There is duck food and cups in the Farmhouse so feel free to give them a little snack.
There are many other birds and animals frequenting the Country Willows grounds. Keep an eye out. You never know what you might see.
