Finding a gay-friendly bed and breakfast where you can feel comfortable makes all the difference in the world, especially when you're in a new area. Country Willows recognizes the importance of inclusivity and a pleasant travel experience.
Long time guests and husbands, Galen and Geoff, spoke with us about the acceptance they've experienced at Country Willows.
"My husband and I have been coming to Country Willows and Ashland for over 25 years. We are recognized at the inn and throughout the town for who we are: an established, theater-loving, wine-loving married couple," said Galen.
"At the B&B we are often part of the breakfast discussions of the previous night's play, the weather, and other issues. Through these discussions we have made true friendships with our fellow guests and staff. We have never felt that anyone hung back from talking with us because we are gay."
Jody and her spouse Katie were guests at Country Willows last year.
“The moment we pulled onto the grounds we felt the stress of our day-to-day lives disappear. While the grounds are breathtaking, as an LGBTQ couple we were still nervous about being welcomed. All those nerves disappeared once we met Innkeeper Linda and the rest of the Country Willows staff. We felt welcomed, safe, and at ease. It’s been a long time since we’ve felt that welcomed, and that feeling has stuck with us.”
Innkeeper Linda Kilcollins says the Country Willows team takes pride in recognizing the importance of creating an atmosphere where anyone, regardless of their gender, religion or sexuality, can feel comfortable, safe and accepted. Country Willows is listed on the popular site Purple Roofs, an inclusive LGBTQ+ travel directory.
